Firebird

11 December 2026 Verbrugghen Hall

On Friday 11 December, I will bring together an orchestra of some of Sydney's finest emerging orchestral players for a programme of colour, fantasy and transformation, culminating in Stravinsky's electrifying 1919 Firebird Suite.

The Project

This concert brings together four extraordinary orchestral works. Ravel opens the door to the enchanted world of Mother Goose, before

Saint-Saëns lets the skeletons loose in the wickedly theatrical Danse macabre. De Falla turns up the heat with his Ritual Fire Dance, before Stravinsky unleashes The Firebird.

Why this project?

The concert forms part of my Masters degree in Conducting at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, where I study with Benjamin Northey. It's also an opportunity to bring together outstanding young musicians for an intensive, professional-scale orchestral project built around major repertoire and a public performance.

Support

The Firebird is an independently produced orchestral project, with costs spanning musician fees, venue hire, orchestral materials, and copyright compliance.

Support through ticket sales, as well as tax-deductible donations via the Australian Cultural Fund will help make Firebird possible and ensure the musicians involved are properly supported for their work.

Any funds raised beyond the cost of this concert will go towards developing the next orchestral project in 2027.
